Terms & conditions

The friendly rules that keep the kampung running smoothly.

last updated: July 2026

This is a draft for the committee — please have it reviewed with a legal adviser before publishing. It isn't legal advice.

1. Who we are

KUM Youth is the youth branch of Kampung Utara Melbourne (KUM), a non-profit community organisation based in Coolaroo, Victoria. These terms cover your use of the KUM Youth website and participation in our programs and events. By using this site, you're agreeing to them.

in short: using the site means you're okay with these terms.

2. Using this site

Everything here is shared to keep our community informed. Please don't misuse the site, submit forms with false information, or copy our content, illustrations or logos without asking us first — the KUM Youth mark belongs to KUM.

in short: be kind, play fair, ask before reusing our stuff.

3. Events & registrations

RSVPs and volunteer registrations are subject to capacity — spots aren't guaranteed until we confirm. Participants under 18 need the consent of a parent or guardian. Event details can change, and we may need to postpone or cancel; we'll always let registered participants know, and @kumyouth on Instagram carries the latest.

in short: register early, keep an eye on instagram, parents sign off for under-18s.

4. Photos & media

Photos and videos may be taken at our events for documentation and promotion — on this site, Instagram and YouTube. If you or your child would rather not appear, notify the organisers in advance. You can also ask us to take a photo down at any time and we will.

in short: tell us if you'd rather stay off camera — no worries at all.

5. Donations

Donations are processed through a secure third-party payment portal and go towards our programs — hampers and groceries, event costs, and youth program materials. If something goes wrong with a payment or you donated by mistake, email us and we'll sort it out. Jazakallahukhair for your generosity.

in short: every dollar goes back into the kampung.

6. Safety & behaviour

Our events are supervised by trusted organisers and team leaders, with first aid on site. We ask everyone to treat each other with respect and follow organisers' directions. We may ask anyone behaving unsafely or disrespectfully to leave — keeping the kampung safe comes first.

in short: look after each other.

7. Our responsibility

We take reasonable care in everything we run, but to the extent permitted by Australian law we aren't liable for indirect or unexpected loss arising from your use of this site or attendance at events. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

in short: we do our best, and your legal rights stay yours.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time — the date at the top tells you when. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9. Accessibility

We want the kampung to be just as welcoming online. The site offers accessibility options — larger text, reduced motion, highlighted links and a choice of languages. We try our best to provide these features; they may not be perfect, but we are always working to improve them and to cater to everyone who needs them. If something isn't working for you, please tell us.

in short: we keep trying to make the site easier for everyone.

10. Questions

Anything unclear? Email us at kumyouth@kum.org.au (to confirm) — parents are always welcome to reach out.
